The collection contains three letters from Rosamund Borradaile to Robert Feller and one from Feller to Borradaile, about the activities of the Society of Painters in Tempera and art conservation; a list of authors and papers in volume one of the society's papers; a list of lectures given at the Victoria and Albert Museum in autumn 1961 (Borradaile gave one of the lectures); and a transcription of a talk on "Traditions of the Craft of Painting" given by Borradaile and the artist R.A. Wilson, which was sponsored by the society.

In 1899, Christiana J., Lady Herringham translated Libro dell'Arte by Cennino Cennini, who had written during the 15th century about painting techniques. This translation revived interest in the use of egg tempera paint, and The Society of Painters in Tempera was founded in 1901. Between 1901 and 1954, the society published four volumes of papers.
